  1. 1. In the assessment of learning what must be the consideration?
The teachers must consider the learners, learning styles and the multiple intelligences. Teachers should know that students are different. They must know how the students comprehend the lessons – there are slow, average and fast learners. Never base a lesson to only one student. Be responsible and remember the whole class. Teachers should also have an idea how the students learn such lessons. Will they be able to learn if they are alone or when they are in group? These kinds of factors should really take into consideration since these affect the students. As we have discussed, students have different multiple intelligences. These should be well-developed and not to be constrained. Let them improve the skills that they have and let them also try the other skills. Learning other skills will help them expand their capabilities.
    2. What do you think is the most appropriate assessment tool for the very slow learners?
I think in class it is important to give them the same treatment as for with the other learners are having. What the teachers should do is to give them necessary accommodations. For example, after class they can provide them extra discussions, seat works, home works and etc. While in class, maybe the teachers can also do pairing perhaps the fast learner and the slow learner. The fast learner can help the slow learner to fully grasp the lesson and it will also avoid too much time consummation since the whole class don’t need to dwell on it. I also assume that if we alter or modify the assessment of slow learners it will reduce their ability not only academically but it will affect them emotionally. Most likely, their self-esteem will decrease.
    3. When giving post-test to elementary and secondary learners is it right to have the same level of test to higher section down to the lowest one? Give your reaction.
I believe in equality. Teachers should give the same level of post-test to higher section down to the lowest one. All the students were able to learn the same content of the lesson at the same time so why would you give them different sets of examination. The post-test will measure if they comprehend the lesson well or not at all. If you are not satisfied with the result of the slow learners then that is the time you need to make another action. Should you continue to another lesson? Should you repeat the discussion in a way that the students will easily understand? We should never underestimate the students’ learning capabilities.

  2. 1. Every individual have their own unique capability, teacher must have considerations in assessing learners. Learning styles and multiple intelligences are must considered. There are learners who are visually, they prefer using pictures, images and spatial understanding. There are some learners prefer verbally using words both speech and writing, physically using their body, hands and sense of touch and other intra personal prefer to study alone and interpersonal prefer to learn in a group.

    2. For me the must appropriate tool in assessing very slow learners teachers must be patient and consistent, allow the learner to give alloted time in doing a certain task especially the difficult task. Do not judge him/her and avoid cooperative learning that isolates the slow learner.

    3. Yes! Because they have the same curriculum, content of lectures and concept. It is not appropriate for the teacher to have different set of exams for higher section and lowest one. It might be unfair for the higher section if the test made for them is difficult and easy for the lower section as well as for the lower section to have difficult exam and easy for the higher section since they are expected to be more knowledgeable.Teacher must be NEUTRAL.

  3. 1. It is a challenge to teach a diverse group of learners. Therefore, in assessing their learning, teachers must first know their students' skills, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. In addition, they must also take into consideration the learning styles of the students and must be guided by an understanding of the multiple forms of intelligence, since not all learners learn in the same way.

    2. One of the great challenges of a teacher is a having a student who is a slow learner. A good assessment intervention for such learners could be to give shorter tests, oral testing, and redoing tests. Cooperative learning can be benificial, as long as the child is grouped with a patient partner.

    3. Tests, whether pre-test or post-test, are given to students to measure if they have mastered the lesson that has been taught. Therefore, since they all have the same curriculum and content of instruction, they shouldn't be given different tests. First of all, using different tests whose difficulties correspond to the range of the students' abilities makes it invalid. Second, the result of the different tests cannot be generalized, therefore making the feedback not helpful to the teacher since it will be difficult to determine if there is a need to re-teach the lesson or change her type of instruction. Third, it will be unfair to the students to be given different sets of tests that only corresponds to their ability level.

  4. 1. In assessment of learning, one of the considerations a teacher must also look on to are the different kinds of intelligence of a child. As philosophers has eventually recognized the aspect of the mentality of different individuals. Howard Gagner came up with 7 multiple intelligence and later additional 2 intelligence on top of it. Another point that an educator should look into are the learning styles of each student which could either be a visual, auditory, or tactile. The reason why teachers should see these affecting factors because this has a huge impact on the learning of the child. One could be good at some areas but not all are the same. The teacher must be flexible enough to balance the indifferences which we won’t be able to control. As to compensate, researchers and philosophers has provided ways to handle such situations and must also be creative to develop and bring out the best in every child.
    2. There are two types of assessment tools established. One is formative and the other is summative. As very slow learners are the focused group on the class, I highly recommend having formative as the strategy to be utilized. Formative is an ongoing process which has interventions on students every now and then. I suggest having it as reinforcement method on students not to make them feel that they are not capable as average to above average students. This also affects the emotional aspect of the child. By the multiple intelligences discussed, and the creative way of the teacher to implement appropriate assessment tests to students, this could be a big leap on the class.
    3. As for our setting on school departments, we administer standard examinations. We have been on this set up for a long time, as I can initially see on it, the deped has reasons on implementing this type of system. One benefit is that we can get results immediately, and finish the curriculum. However, on the students who are unable to reach the appropriate goal will be left behind. On my perceptive, though obviously it may seem unjust, but on the other end, providing them different set of test will just be nurturing their weakness as a student. We can give follow up sessions to reinforce learning, but not to the point to categorize them as the group who were at the bottom level. In reality, it is a whole lot different, and for them to survive they have to push harder and be on their very best to reach or to be out of that state. That is the main reason why we have teachers for students to learn, not to just accept the fact that they are on and always at the bottom. We teach for them to receive learning properly for them to have a good job to land on, in addition to that is to have a better life.

  5. 1. Assessment is the important part of teaching – learning process. That is why in assessing, teachers should be able to consider the learners learning styles and the multiple intelligences. Every leaner is unique; they all have their own ways in coping and learning. Teachers should be sensitive to the needs of their students so that they would become aware of to whom they would give more focus or emphasis and what subject they should give more time in teaching. Teachers should also be able to give assessment that would guide and encourage their students to learn.

    2. In my opinion, the most suitable assessment tool for every slow learner is by giving them more attention, patience and understanding. They should feel, especially from the teachers that there is no hindrance in learning. Given that they are slow learners, teacher should be careful not to emphasize in class that they are slow, so that they would not lose their self-esteem. Teachers should also know how to and when to give them special treatment in teaching. By doing so, I believe that it would not affect their eagerness in going to school because they do not feel that they are left behind by their classmates.

    3. In giving post test to learners, I believe that they should have the same test from the highest to the lowest section. Not only because they all have the same curriculum and content of lectures, but also because it should always be equal. Every student should not feel that pessimistic about their section because every student should be given equal right to be in the highest section. If for example, they would give a different test to the highest section, I think that, that would only maintain the students in section one to section one. Because the test is different, I think that it students in section one would have an advantage because they would be learning more than the others because the content of their test is more difficult, thus they would study harder than the other sections.
